At the @africanboatingconference in Cape Town, South Africa, Gulf Craft CEO Erwin Bamps delivered a keynote address on the lessons emerging marine markets can draw from the UAE’s development as an international yachting destination.
His message centred on the importance of marine infrastructure, supporting services and connected cruising destinations in attracting visiting superyachts and encouraging longer stays. Drawing on Gulf Craft’s own international history and experience, including its established presence in the Maldives, he highlighted the opportunities to develop a more connected African cruising region.

Gulf Craft was represented at the Asia-Pacific Superyacht Summit (APSS) 2026, organised by @superyachttimes in Kobe on May 7-8, where our CEO, Erwin Bamps, participated in the panel discussion “Why International Shipyards Are Investing in the Asia-Pacific.”
During the session, he shared insights into the strategic drivers behind such investments and how the group assesses the region’s long-term commercial potential.
Now firmly established as the leading annual gathering for the superyacht industry in the Asia-Pacific region, the APSS brings together industry leaders, yacht owners, investors, and key regional stakeholders, all working toward positioning Asia-Pacific as a premier superyacht market and cruising destination.
